The shown 1987 version is what I remember when repairing the one I found in my 1993.
Since you have what S Carlson is talking about, it would be a a moderate job sourcing the caps and some soldering.
I can't really see, but the black thing at the end of the board could be an IC -- which would be a replacement of the transistor circuits in the older version. The circular bronze things are likely smaller version of the inductors. Inductors and resistors hold up well over time barring any previous shorts.
What is the $10 aftermarket replacement? Do you have a link?
