The 92 controller was much simpler inside than the 87 (see attached gallery image).
The reflow process on the 87 unit revealed another problem upon completion; the fuse is popping open as soon as I operate the driver door.
So I've got a different safari awaiting me...chasing down that problem.
In either case, if any of these repairs fail again (once fully solved), I'm going to follow Justin's lead and just put in the aftermarket controller that he found for $10. I've lost my appetite for massaging original Saab parts into operation when a modern and cheap alternative is only a click away.
