Slow window syndrome Posted by Arabiflora [Email] (#1129) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Arabiflora) on Wed, 2 Jan 2019 19:35:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I recently bought an '89 900T. It's in very good shape overall but a couple of items need some R&R-- the power windows, in particular. Both move up or down only at a snail's pace. Neither window has enough power to fully seat in the window seals of the door. The power sunroof affords a little or a lot of fresh air but I'd really like to fix the windows.
Searching the board I've found several likely culprits-- either the switches in center console themselves, the in-door motors, and/or or the pistons that control up/down. The fact that both windows are similarly afflicted makes me want to look, first, far upstream. However, reviewing the Bentley wiring diagram (371-114), I surmise that the last bit of circuitry shared in common between DS and PS window switches is at the 29-pin bulkhead connector and, given that essentially all other dedicated electrical circuits appear to be working properly, that seems an unlikely source of my problems. Thus, I'm stuck with the apparent coincidence of simultaneous failures affecting both windows in a similar way.
Might anyone in Saabland be able to point me in the right direction re: tracing faults? Any diagnostics? Any predictions where is/are the most likely failure points? I appreciate that this is probably a FAQ and for that I apologize in advance but any pointers would be very welcome.
