hi all
car has been running fine until lately. Recently, car started stalling (every time) when warming up in driveway, after approx 3-5 minutes of idling- but not up to full temp though. then the car would not restart immediately, but would restart after a few minutes, then stall again. i pulled the plugs (bcp5es)and re-gapped them (looked normal), looked at the bosch cap and rotor- all looked good, don't see any bad vacuum lines. cleaned the amm with spray. put some dry gas in the tank. Cleaned the fuel system grounds near fuel rail (were not that dirty at all). after this, the car stalled once but started back up, and ran for a half an hour, with the cooling fans cycling several times. thought i may have cured it with the dry gas, or cleaning the amm.
today, started right up, and stalled as usual, and started back up after a few minutes, but stalled again- would not stay running. when i opened the throttle, the car immediately died. Now, the car still fires, but won't start, even after sitting.
i have spark at the coil (abeit yellow), the fuel pump runs and seems to have pressure, judging by the spray that comes out of the fuel rail when cracking the banjo bolt (don't have a pressure gage). i also unplugged the ntc sensor and tried starting unplugged, as well as when jumping the connector- no start.
i am thinking bad amm or ecu. i have a spare amm from LH 2.4 ending in 013, but my car is LH 2.4.2, and the amm on the car ends with 019. Bentley says not to interchange amms from LH 2.2 with LH 2.4, but this is not the case. is there any harm in swapping these different amms from different versions of LH2.4? similarly, are there different ecus that will work on this car? Has anyone had a bad crank sensor that manifested such as this?
Any other ideas?
Thank you
