Car is a 1993 C900T Conv.
I am installing the reverse gear lockout gear set in the shifter assembly. Surprisingly these kits are still avail and $55 ish. A bargain!
For the gear that goes on the ignition key cylinder the one in the kit photo looks too have a squared off oval cutout but the one in the car looks to have a flat surface with some kind of peg or something on it. I have not tried to get the cylinder out yet but read the procedure. In the blue factory manuals and on saabsite. Unfortunately this looks to be the gear that is worn/bent and making it hard to engage the starter.
The shifter assembly was pretty easy to get out and the cleanout and lube of the electrical part of the ignition switch a puzzle but not too bad.
Has anyone run across this? This kit looks to be universal for all years of the C900, so seems a bit odd. I remember the console in my 1984 looked the same.
Thanks!
