Another thing to check is vacuum and turbo pressure leaks.
Major culprits that I've found over the years for issues that cause the symptoms you're describing are
- the bushings that hold the vacuum nipples into the intake manifold and the PVC nipple into the valve cover have deteriorated and don't seal anymore
- old cracked vacuum hoses.
- Cracked PCV-to-turbo intake duct return line
- Cracks in the rubber boots that connect the turbo ducting.
- Deterioratee rubber boot on the inlet side of the turbo.
- and, of course, make sure that all the clamps on the turbo ducting boots are tight.
While you're in there looking, clean the AMM measurement elements with a good Air Mass Meter cleaner and clean up the electrical connectors on the AMM with some tuner cleaner. Doing those two things make a good contribution to driveability.
