I agree that many of the new radios do look a bit like killer robots, and don't appeal to me in the looks department. I did my best to find one that works aesthetically in the classic 900, and stayed with the Clarion brand. I thought about using Wasal, or whatever his name is at the radio repair you mention from the classifieds here. I hear he's good, but if you send your radio or CD player to him on the day your child enters kindergarten, you should have it back by the day your child graduates college. I'd heard that from a few folks and took it as honest advice.... and began my search for an aftermarket system. I had so many issues with the factory units once they exceeded their 20th birthday, that I couldn't take it any more. Lights going out, EQs not working, CD players not working, amps dropping out left or right or rear or front channels randomly. In the early years, I really liked their Clarion systems, but age wasn't kind to them. I'd probably gone though 6 head units in my '94 vert. I completely gave up on the CD player/EQ units years ago. None of them seem to work any more. I was finished. I'm 56 years old and love my music. I now get to hear it properly, without drop outs, without lighting failures, and with enough power to sound great with the top down. I also have GPS on the 7" video screen, Bluetooth capability, hands free phone use, video from DVDs or flash drives. It's a completely different world! I waited through no less than 20 years and four 900s and a 9000 Aero before finally going and doing a pro stereo install...and it was worth the effort and money spent. I'm into the whole thing for about $850.00 and did all the work myself. As to the inflated prices on the auction site for these old stereos, I just don't get it... Never again for me. ;) Cheers, Bob
