I had a similar experience with my 94 900 Commemorative Edition convertible. I was able to stay authentic. I went through 3 sets (still have them) before I found a working set. I now have a 1986 900 SPG and the previous owner must have "given up the ghost" and bought a very nice Clarion Radio/CD, digital model with all the buzzers and whistles and some nice rear speakers. I have the 3 gauge cluster in the equalizer slot, which I like. I've visited with Wasyl, and found him to be a very pleasant guy. It wasn't the "turn around time" for the repair to my C/D changer it was the cost ($300.00). He is right up front with what he can do for you and is still a long time loyal sponsor with SaasbNet; I believe.
I have found the word "rare" over used in describing some of the Saab replacement parts. Those two components, slide in and out (radio, cassette, equalizer, C/D) were in every 92-94 convertible (I think). I would not consider this audio system "rare" and have 3 sets that are available.
