The shafts are "aftermarket". The length of both are the same as the ones I took out, which may have been aftermarket as well. I usually rebuild the shafts but the price of the tripod bearings was over $150 (everywhere I looked) then you add in the cost of the rest required to rebuild put the cost well over $200 each side. Obtained these from AutoZone at a cost of about $140 for both sides.
The compressed length of the passenger side is 24-1/4" and the driver side is 21-15/16". I checked multiple stores, sites, etc and they all gave the same length. Unfortunately none of the preferred Saab parts sites had any in stock or listed them as NLA, and the added plus of living in southern New Mexico makes it is near impossible finding any of the OG's in salvage yards to scavenge parts from.
So far have replaced all the front suspension bushings, CV shafts, wheel bearings, rebuilt steering rack, rebuilt PS pump, PS hoses, entire clutch system, motor mounts, radiator, fuel pump, water pump, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses including the weird "Y" hose from the PVC valve to the turbo tube, new grommets everywhere, 95% new gaskets & seals, all the "rotten wires" in the engine compartment, rebuilt front & rear calipers, injectors and fuel lines, sensors, new brakes and hoses throughout, exhaust from the cat back, carpeting and padding, exterior window sweeps, various interior switches, new stereo system, rear package shelf and much more.
Still lacking fixing the central locking & cruise control, new tires, front windshield and paint job.
