Hello,
I believe that in 85 an 8 valve 900 non turbo would have the crank sensor built into the distributor. The signal goes from there to the ignition module located on the drivers side inner fender with about a 7 pin connector. Also you might want to check if that has an "ignition amplifier" relay in the fuse/ relay box. The connector on the distributor is probably a 3 pin connector. Make sure the pins haven't backed out of the connector or the plastic has gotten loose on the housing allowing one of the wires to short out on the distributor housing. Good Luck, Bernie
