I started posting here a couple of weeks ago, as I have a ton to learn about these cars, but never gave any info on our SAAB. Basically, I have been building and racing cars for a number of years and we've always loved SAAB's, since owning an '88 SPG from new "back in the day". So, I started looking for a really good one last fall to go through to give to my wife for her birthday.
We found this '88 turbo through a racing friend back east. I bought it beginning of December, but because of first weather, then COVID, was unable to get back east to drive it home until late April. The drive home was awesome...never missed a beat (surprising, as the radiator was missing the majority of it's cooling fins, I ultimately discovered!)...although it was eerie driving across country at that time.
It is an entirely original, one owner car and was stored winters, so a kind of rare example. But, it still needed some love, mostly around stopping surface corrosion/cleaning things up and going through seals/rubber/hoses and service items. While I was at it, I did a few upgrades (all stock parts are mothballed, including the working Clarion head unit and equalizer)
I'm very appreciative of the knowledge shared on this board, SAAB did a number of things very differently and the experience of many of you in figuring it out is invaluable :)
