Gene,
Thank you for posting at TSN!
The SAAB 900 prior to 1994 should employ the 8.5" version clutch except turbocharged models from 1989-1994 which did benefit from the larger 9" kit.
The "Half Breed" disc at 8+ 5/8" may have been a substitute used on SAAB 900 clutch kits for either 8.5" or 9" version. The 8+ 5/8" discs will allow for direct installation onto either 9' or 8.5' clutch pressure plates, but will be slightly oversized or undersized dependent on which plate is being employed. Ideally, the 9" or 8.5" turbocharged clutch should have a matched disc for best holding characteristics.
SAAB had employed SACHS clutch kits on most 900 prior to 1994, with the pressure plate/cover having the SC436 for the 8.5" version or SC437 for any 9" version.
Thanks again for posting at TSN!
Sincerely,
Gary K. at SWEDISH DYNAMICS, INC.
