Thanks for the reply Steven.
I fitted the new plastic inlet pipe, changed out the bypass valve, (it wouldn’t hold vacuum), installed new plugs, adjusted their gap closer to 0.6mm and got the boost up to 10 psi on my gauge at 16 degrees BTDC. That’s as fas as the gauge will go. It felt like it went higher.
The intercooler must of gotten heat soaked though after a couple of pulls, because it went down to 8.5-9psi, but it was a lot more stable. I’m fairly happy with how it runs now.
I’m sending the turbo to GPop shop, (as your recommendation - thanks again), because it’s making a very loud police siren type of noise. There’s no wear on the compressor housing, but I rebuilt it with a new compressor wheel, so I’m assuming it’s quite off balance. I would like the guys at gpop to take a look, see if anything’s bent etc. As usual, I can’t spend a fortune, so I’ll decide what to do if/when they find anything out of the ordinary. They’ve been very helpful so far.
