OK so's I goes to my parts storage joint and get the box full of APC brains and guess what? Three out of four DO NOT have the tiny notch, one does! So then I dig out my pile of wiring harnesses and examines all the APC connectors and as I expectorated...all identical. Can you attach the connector to a box with no notch? YES. It requires that you angle the two just right and push pretty hard and it will snap right in. Removing it requires similar force.
I've always noticed that those are often hard to attach and remove when working on these cars but never made a science of it, just push it on whether it's easy or hard and get on with the job.
Possibly at some point Saab decided that the notch would be a nice, helpful feature except that EPC dating of various boxes doesn't conform to that theory?
It's another mystery wrapped in an enema I guess.
Anyway...cut the little notch or just push hard. Never seen one broken.
