Thanks for the replies and for taking a look at that oil cooler thermostat Steven.
Turbo should be back tomorrow. The center housing was worn, both wheels were worn. They rebuilt it with a new bearing kit and had the rest as reconditioned off the shelf. It would have been expensive since they’ve essentially replaced the turbo CHRA. They were kind enough to negotiate quite a discount with me, it ended up being the cost of a rebuild including shipping. Just amazing guys over there. Quick, extremely helpful and most of all, very good at what they do.
I’ve replaced the oil feed pipe and took the oil cooler off to try and clean it. There was what amounted to grit coming out of it. Tiny solid pieces of black stuff. Probably coked oil. Not wanting to take a risk, I’ve purchased a new oil cooler, but now my problem is getting it to fit my old oil cooler housing. It’s bent so I’ll probably need to source a straight one if I can’t bend it back into shape.
