Probably a slightly contrarian California view.
I used to live in the UK and when a car got to that point, there was always so much structural rust everywhere else that it was impossible to get it through the MOT safety inspection.
Switch to Calif where where is no rust let alone safety inspection and the story changes. I would bet that most of the C900s have gone to the crusher for transmission failure. Probably a lot for emissions failure too plus the very limited repair options.
My 1993 C900 TC only needed its first exhaust a couple of years ago! One of the LA repair shops thinks the transmission (5 speed) may be worth more than the car which has about 130K, so there is probably not much value in a good zero rust chassis here.
If it was me I would sure look for an auto C900 of similar vintage in Calif and ship/trailer it back.
It is rare to see any Saabs in the Bay Area now, even 9-3SS, which is still easy for parts.
