89T fuel pumps run after the ignition is turned off Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Thu, 25 Mar 2021 21:28:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted last week about this 89T and it's fuel problems. With replacement fuel lines we cranked it but it would only sputter and die. Turn the key off and the pumps kept running. Disconnected battery and let it rest. Later we tried again. Turned the key and checked the pumps. All was quiet. Cranked a bit and it didn't start. Then realized the ceil wire was off. Checked pumps with th key now off and they were still running. We could smell gas so we pulled the plugs. They were soaked. Disconnected the fuel pump fuse and cranked it to air out the cylinders and a cloud of raw gas shot 5' side ways. What would keep the pumps running with the key on and the engine not running as well as running with the key off.
