The label in the photo is a Saab anti-theft label. It has the VIN printed in black down it's length but it's very faded and not clear in the photo. It also has "SAAB" and a series of numbers in very small print all over it (also too faint to see in the photo).
This one is on a pre-1989 transmission so they started using these labels before 1989 but I can't recall which year.
Eriksson Industries would stamp "EI****" on the top of the chaincase of their rebuilt units and CRS would attach a tag in that area. I just attach a bloody thumbprint to mine.
