The driver side front brake has begun to stick intermittently. Sometimes it goes for days or even weeks without a problem, sometimes only a few miles. The car always starts out rolling along fine but then at some point I notice that it stops dead at a traffic light with the brakes off. I then limp it home and the driver side front wheel is always hot. I had this problem with the passenger side rear about 5 years ago and my mechanic replaced the caliper and that solved the problem. I assume that I need a new caliper on the front now, but my mechanic has retired and my mechanical prowess limits me to only the simplest repairs. I live in the S.F. Bay area so I assume that a solution is possible for some number of $$$, but if anyone feels like being generous with their time it would really help me to get some sense of what kind of challenge I'm really looking at.
