Just check all charging system connections at Battery, Alternator (by way of the starter motor) and grounds. Of course one typically overlooked feature is that your C900 alternator MUST be grounded with a dedicated wire to to the body. If the small (18 or 16 gauge) wire from the alternator case to the chassis/body is loose the alternator can not produce current or will do so intermittently. Finally you may have a failing voltage regulator or alternator or bad connection at the gauge. Check that ground wire first, it's the most common cause of this.
