Thanks for everyone's comments. For those who've been on the forum a long time, back in the day I built my 88 SPG, the SAAB0TR, and posted extensively about it. In 2009 I sold the car to another local Saab guy. We had a pact that I could have first dibs to buy it back from him if he sold it, but I never took him up on that. He then sold it on to someone else, and I lost track of the car. My friend did spot the car in an alley near where he lives, but not much more info.
Last weekend I found the car at one of the local self-serve yards. Unfortunately, a lot of parts were already gone (turbo, front OZ wheels, Wilwood big brakes, SDS stand alone engine management) but the SPG kit was mostly there (only the left front fender extension missing). I grabbed the engine and transmission, plus the SPG panels.
I've decided to sell most of the parts, but for now will keep the transmission, aluminum flywheel and the short shifter. The transmission and shifter were from Jorgen Eriksson, I remember going to the airport to pick up the crate when it arrived! It is certainly the chill cast case.
Since 2009, I've moved onto other cars and no longer have any Saabs, but keeping the transmission might tempt me back one day!
Here's a link to my old car:
