Wondering if you had already procured the hall sensor and if it was shipped from Australia.
When you took off the old one, from the looks of it, you are working on an ignition distributor, not the crankshaft mounted unit. Did you drill out the two "rivets" from the plate to release the old unit? The new sensor should fit into the same position, then the virgin posts that fit into the plate are peened to the plate.
Those hall sensors were out of production for awhile, so it's good they are available again.
