I just want to add here, it seems to just be the 900 era of doing things for Saab.
More direct power, fewer relays.
On longer time scales (now they're all 30+ years old) it becomes more of an issue due to physical degradation, increased resistance at terminals due to corrosion, etc.
Window motors are a great example if you ask me of routing power through the switch which leads to a degraded performance.
Another is the AC wiring. The relay is like 10 pins, which is complex enough, but on 2 of my 900s the relay gets hot and some of the pins have melted the seat of the connectors.
High current devices should be the shortest runs possible, with relays fed by switches in the interior of the car so you're not running 20 amps over a 10 foot cable there and back. Or, example, you use a thermoswitch to control the fan relay, you don't power the fan through the thermoswitch.
Anyway... always things to improve. The C900 is by no means a perfect vehicle.
