You shouldn't need to hammer anything or remove the white "bulge" pieces. After you remove the spring straps on both sides look closely and you'll see that the steel shaft has a reduced diameter near the leather. There is also a black plastic disc between the bracket with the white pieces and the leather. Rotate that disc and you'll find that it has a slot. Make the slot point up and spread it a little while pushing down on it until it escapes completely. Now if you shift the seat to one side the reduced diameter part of the steel shaft will be where the white plastic pieces are you can just lift that end of the seat free. Then slide the seat the other way and lift it free on that end...now it's out.
