Appreciate your speedy response.... It's not a switch, it's a thermostat that doesn't close the internal contact until the engine coolant reaches or exceeds the boiling point. I removed it (hex head 1 1/8") and checked it out (dipped it into boiling water on the kitchen stove) and it appears ok, spowin 24 ohm resistance instead of the previous open circuit), but I haven't yet tried shorting the two attached wires, the with ignition key switched on. Will do so later today.

If that doesn't respond with the fan blowing something else is the problem. There must be a relay or a fuse that controls the power circuitry for both the main and the secondary rediator fans. Where exactly are they? The cooling fan assembly itself has two exposed power terminals at the rear of the fan which when everything else is disconnected, if hot-wired to 12 volts should spin up, which I expect it will.
