I had a similar experience with a 1992 9000. I was able to diagnose it using a wiring diagram from the Saab electrical service manual. I wouldn’t have been able to diagnose it without the manual. It was rather complicated with a fan that would run after the car was turned off until either the temperature dropped or a certain time passed. I realize the 900 is different but the technique to diagnose is similar. Don’t overlook the wiring because the 9000 had a wire running under the radiator that had to be replaced due to is deterioration from the exposure. It really takes thoroughly tracing the wiring from point to point on the schematic diagram.
