Axles were no different. I am confident of that. The different outer joints were between the front-handbrake and rear-handbrake cars, and possibly those had different shaft lengths as well, but I am not dead sure on that. Inner drivers were changed, first on turbo cars in '85 and then on N/A cars during the '86-'87 period (from the old three-ridge design to the new two-ridge design), but that change didn't affect anything but the inner driver and the tripod bearing. So I think you should be good with axles.
