It's funny you should ask that. I had been wondering the same. I really never drove that car hard.
The reason I did it was because I suspected that my solid discs were the cause of my brake judder. I figured a solid disc was less likely to get warped than a vented disc, and the judder did not feel like the typical brake judder that comes from a normal car with vented discs. Plus, I had tracked down a good donor car, it was cheap, and I was young so I had time and strength on my side to get the job done, and there were other things I needed to do while I was in there (e.g. rack boots, inner driver). I guess also I had nicer-fitting caliper yokes for vented than I did for solid discs, and I was eager to get those tightened up.
However, it turned out that the judder was not caused by a warped disc. The vented brakes also juddered after a few hundred miles, which was crazy to me considering they were basically new. Turns out the scalloped edge of the disc, normally used as a relief to get the pads out, was the cause of my judder. When I went to some cheaper Raybestos discs, which lacked the scalloped edge, the judder went away permanently.
So, worth it? I still don't know.
