Does anyone here have strong sentiments regarding the use of non-Bosch distributor caps and rotors?

I recently went over my 87 900 turbo in prep for its bi-annual smog test here in revolutionary Los Angeles.

I was a little surprised to discover that my immediate parts-inventory no longer contained any more Bosch distributor caps (056). I found a generic replacement at Oreilly's (Standard Motor Products) which I installed along with my last in-stock Bosch rotor. Seems to be running perfectly fine for the moment.

But a Saab-repair shop long ago advised me to stay with Bosch caps and rotors whenever performing a tune-up as the aftermarket alternatives were sketchy/shady at best and I've stuck to this advice ever since.

Maybe I'm chafing at the effects of broad tarrifs affecting prices everywhere but I'm used to seeing these once-ubiquitous Bosch 056 caps costing around $6-$15 but now, pricing is running around $18-$25. Aftermarket brands (of which I have no experience) include Walker, Liland Global, Karlyn/Bremi, Wells, Standard Motor Products, Facet which are running more along the lines of the old Bosch pricing.

I passed smog so perhaps I can conduct my own research regarding performance/longevity of a non-Bosch product.

Does anyone have a clear history of good/bad results with non-Bosch parts like these?
