Ive always just used hydraulic jack oil from auto parts store. The pump and system in general is very simple in a C900. If you are adding fluid, you obviously have a leak. The pump is the usual suspect. It can really make a mess of the carpet padding on the rear passenger side. Make sure you clean all that up, and if you don't fix the leak, add some pig mat or something around the pump to contain the future mess. I guess the upside is that the floor won't rust there. If you chose to replace or repair the pump, it is an easy job and you used to be able to buy a complete pump with reservoir for a pretty reasonable price. I think hydro-e-lectric used to sell it for a couple hundred bucks. It's been a while since I bought one though as I must have 5 extras at this point.
