Classic 900 - Odd Temperature Gauge Behavior Posted by ForzaSaab [Email] |
SaabNet : I have a 1984 Saab 900 3 Door Hatchback - the single cam base model.
The temperature gauge, in the instrument panel is not behaving. Here is what happens, when the car is started from a cold condition.
A - The temperature gauge reads a bit low for about the first 10 to 15 minutes. Less than the normal horizontal needle position.
B - Then, somewhat randomly, the gauge instantly pegs to maximum.
C - There are no coolant leaks, and the coolant level is normal.
D - The temperature sensor in the engine block has been replaced.
E - The thermostat and water pump have been replaced, and the coolant has been flushed.
F - There is no coolant in the engine oil.
Thanks very much for your help solving this one.
