Good morning to all.

I know this is kind of going to the wrong audience in a way for this question, but here it goes.

I have an 85 900 3 door 5 speed turbo that I am considering racing in the Lemons series. It runs, drives and is pretty much a rust free SF Bay area car. Original paint that is starting to lose the battle with time.

I really like the car and picked it up maybe 7 years ago to compliment my 86 vert. I prefer the flat noses and appreciate this has the 16 v engine too.

The idea behind this move is my 17 year old wants to do the race. My wife wants to see the car gone or go to better use than sitting around all the time. I started restoration replacing the front seat covers with L Seat skins that are pretty much close to new (should have done the rears at the same time) and replaced the headliner. Also did shocks and a wheel bearing that my need to be redone.

A large part of me says "don't do it. There are only so many of these around now and you won't be able to replace it". The other part says, this is going to be a great project and possibly help my son with getting into college to pursue engineering, which is a difficult area to get acceptance these days.

I keep looking at ads for newer cars thinking they might be better options for parts, etc, but then think, I know mine runs and works, putting us ahead of the curve for actually getting to the starting line.

Appreciate all and any thoughts.
