I have an 84 900T with the 8-valve engine. I had the car in to the mechanic because the oil pressure light was coming on at stoplights. When he looked at it, he said the bearings in the engine were a little worn and letting oil past them. I am wondering how hard it is to pull the block and rebuild it in these Saabs. My dad has rebuilt chevy 350's and other small blocks, but never touched any front wheel drive car. I am curious as to how much work would be involved, and the rough price. I am mainly interested in replacing bearings and rings and oil pump. I hate to give this car up, as it has a rebuilt tranny, rebuilt turbo, new radiator, tires, tie-rod ends, ball joints, alternator, and the body is excellent and almost rust free. Thanks in advance for any input.
p.s. after I put in 20w-50, the oil light stopped coming on - just like my mechanic said to do. How long do you guys think the engine will last if I just keep running it like this - it seems to be running very well right now.
