Where does my boost go?

On my 87 SPG ( I modified the APC ECU by adjusting the potentiometers) When I drive normally or moderately hard boost is very good. But when I drive hard, up to redline, ie, long strait flooring it, heeltoe down into second make a turn hit the gas hard, I only get base boost from there on out, all the way into fifth hitting about 4500-5500rpms throught all the gears. Whats up with that? It's like when I REALLY want the boost it isn't there. Anyone else have this problem. I have very good boost until I push it. Very annoying. TIA !
