I,m taking possesion of an 88 900s 4 door 16v 5 spd. w/150k km.
The Bbody looks pretty good for a Canadian car a little rust on the bottom of the driver's door
It currently dosn't start the guy who is giving me the car has no idea what the problem is...It has been sitting for 10 months.
The car is a gift so... initial cost is a tow to a Saab mechanic for a once over inspection.
I am willing to spend some $$$ doing repairs but I am unfamilliar with Saabs (I have always owned volvo 240s) My questions to Saabnetters are :
1.Are there any common ills with this model?
2.What repairs arn't worth bothering with for a car of this vintage ?
3.What should my ceiling be for repair costs / worth of vehicle

These might seem redundant FQA's but I would appreciate a response.I have always been interested in Saab's but don't know anyone who has owned one
I am a "shadetree" mechanic and have restored other cars/ motorbikes so I'm not afraid of takeing on the odd repair when my schedual allows.
I will post the mechanic's verdict later this week.
