tranny guy in SouthEast USA???

Drat!
I figured I was pushing my luck with all the upgrades to the Beastie and 75,000 miles since the last clutch replacement. I was zooming up a short highway onramp with a foot full of boost yesterday and noted the tach needle slip upward. Uh, oh. Clutch starting to slip at high torque. Darn the luck!!!
Question for all you guys -- anyone know of a good tranny shop in the SouthEastern US? I live in Jacksonville Florida, which is on the Atlantic Ocean (I-95 and I-10) just south of the Georgia border. I'm willing to drive for a day to find someone trustworthy to replace my clutch for me -- I don't trust the local shops. Hmmmm... Townsend is in North Carolina, right? That's not too far for me to go. I want to find a real Saab mech with whom someone here has had good experiences.
Anybody care to tell me about how they replaced their own clutch? Beastie is an '87 900T w/ stock 5-speed. Could I do this myself? Or is it not worth the trouble? Keep in mind that sometimes "simple" jobs I do, like replacing the O2 sensor, become epic battles... should I even =think= about attempting this myself?
I appreciate any and all opinions and guidance on this. Thanks, friends.

P.S. I know I brought this on myself by disturbing the Continuum. When I replaced the inaccurate fuel sender, and fixed the rotating headlight switch, I made the Beastie too close to perfect. Something HAD to break! :/
