While not my profession, I am not new to turning a few wrenches. There are times that I could grease my car with what is on my sleeve and experienced the foresight of knowing that “This will HURT if it slips”. And when the nut breaks free, I withdraw a hand with knuckles bleeding, folding the skin back where it use to be I say “ I knew that was going to happen, I’m not so Dumb”, ah, Right.

Anyway, while fixing lots of the little thing that the former owner didn’t want to or didn’t think was worth the effort, I found a few things on my 1987 Turbo Convertible with 90,000 miles that left me scratching my head.

1.Are the knobs that control the blower, temperature, and direction of the heat suppose to light up?

2.While driving there is a tick…..tick coming from both doors both driving and while parked in the driveway with engine running. Is that from the anti-theft device?

3.In the trunk and behind the panel where the convertible top drops into is an elastic strap on each side with a flat metal hook. What is this for and where does it hook to?

OK, back to your advice Monster. I followed your advice, well most of it, didn’t scout the area for Smokys first. Started at 65 MPH on a slight upgrade in 5th and accelerated. I had to back off a little when a guy pulled in front of me but the car went to about 115 in a little less than 60 sec. I think it would have gone faster with time but my license is clean and I want it to stay that way. My turbo was a solid 1/3 in to the yellow. How did my second love do?
