Michael,
I recently did a complete clutch replacement and used the trailer hitch on my wifes 9000 to compress the new PP! It's the removeable type and I turned the hitch upside down (so that the ball is facing down) jacked the car up and put the pressure plate on a piece of wood and placed the old release bearing on the fingers where it would normally contact them and slowly lowered the car. The hitch ball is large enough to center itself in the release bearing but not go through. Worked very well after trying several other unsuccessful jury rigs. Obviously you need a hitch to use this method. But reading the other posts it does suggest that a jack and a car can be used to your advantage.
Regards,
John
