When I had a trans installed, I ASKED mechanic to take it home, to be sure no problems .... didn't help.
Exh wacked frame, bolt left out that allowed trans oil to pour out ( I pulled starter to put one back in), front joint leaked (forgot sealer?), he broke speedo cable clip behind dash ...
In your case, not likely harm was done, but he should have asked 1st. Different from a test drive.
