sensor just yet. I am having the same exact problem with mine (doesn't it suck!). Well lets start with the cal/test sequence. Holding the AUTO button and the most lower right vent switch (opposite corner of ACC control panel as auto switch) will run a calibration/self test sequence. The number (0,1,2,3 etc) is how many faults were found. Your dealer can pull the code if you have a number other than 0 (I show a 1). My dealer quoted me $80 to do so. So I decided to research it myself.
Start with you out side temp on the instrument cluster
Accurate- good outside temp sensor
Not- I've been told this could be a factor but I don't have this problem
Now the cabin temp sensor
It constantly sucks in air and tests cabin temp for auto adjustment of ACC. The intake is the circular grill looking thing below and to the right of your seat heater switches. To test suction put small piece of tissue paper over grill (Enough to cover grill). It should stick to the dash like a ballon to the wall after rubbing it in you 4 year olds hair (they love that!)
If it sticks- intake fan works go to next step
If not- Problem found
Not out of the woods yet
If it does stick remove ash tray push ACC control panel from rear and you can access the rear of the cabin sensor. You can remove it from the rear.
unplug the cabin sensor.Run cal/self test again. Does your fault increase by one number?
No- replace cabin temp sensor
yes- it now sees two bad parts (your real fault and the cabin temp sensor)
So put it back in it's working for gods sake!
So that narrows down two sensors that could effect air temp out of vents.
Another one is the mixed air temp sensor. This one is in the duct work of the dash and is key in controling the hot air/ cold air flap. It tells the ACC the temp of duct air. So if your sensor tells the ACC that it only feels hot air it will compinsate by cutting of hot air to "correct" that problem.
The mixed air temp sensor is barely visable to the right side of hole in dash with the ACC panel removed. I accessed it a little easier by removing the glove box. It has two wires white wires going into it and is secured in place by plastic keepers built in ductwork. I have ordered a new mixed sensor ($60) and am awaiting delivery. As soon as it works/doesn't I will post an update.
The only thing I fear is the Control unit itself could be toast.
I guess I am taking a gamble but will it kill me if I am wrong??? No!!
Hang on for about another week and learn through my mistakes or concider my a master mind.
Oh and that having to push the button more than once to have it change speed thing... Mine does it too. I have become accustom to hitting the button two times then holding in in and it wil slow down (sucks when it's on full blast hot all the time!). Putting down the window only freezes you out! Try to pop the sunroof up with windows up and heat on. That will get rid of some of the heat and make it a bit more tolerable! Hang in their We will fix our ACC heat problem one day and we set it to 76 it will be 76. That will be a grand day!!
