Hi again,
I forgot about the details. I've got an '86 9000 Turbo.
For a long time I had had a problem with the clutch engaging at different
different points as I move the pedal: sometimes close to the floor, sometimes almost all the way at the end of the throw.
I first replaced the clutch master cylinder. I ended up with no clutch action at all. The mechanic told me that the imcreased pressure due to
the new master cylinder had done in the slave cylinder. Okay. I had to
get the problem fixed - the car's got 150k on it, let's do it.
So the slave was replaced along with a new hydaulic line. The clutch and
rear main seal were replaced (and in need of it, so at least something
went right) at this time.
So now, after almost %1500 spent, I still have trouble with the clutch disengaging.
As I said, I see no visible problem with the brake master cylinder. Could it be as simple as air in the line? I am losing fluid somewhere, but I don't see any around the brake master cylinder. Where would it come out?
Is it possible that the mechanic screwed up when replacing the slave cylinder? The bell housing does have oil on it.
Should I just give up on the local mechanic have the Saab mechanic take a
fresh look at it, costing me much more? I'm already broke!
Thanks for your help,
Jack
