I have a 97 Aero auto and I have a leak in the straight pipe after the cat. I would like to upgrade the exhaust to either 2.5 or 3 in. My question is, should I go with a complete exhaust from the downpipe back or should I go from the cat back? If I go from the downpipe back, should I go for a free flow cat? Does it really makes a difference if I use the 2.5" compared to the 3" pipe? For the ones who have upgraded their exhaust, what did you use and are you happy with the results? Could you suggest a vendor that sells the exhaust.
Sorry for all the questions. My Saab mechanic said that some aftermarket exhaust dose not fit correctly and the space to work with is very limited. He also said that I shouldn't touch the downpipe, just to replace from the cat back.
Thanks in advance for your input.
