JW,
Performancewise there is virtually NO gain from replacing cat-back. The main "bottlenecks" lie in the downpipe and the cat.
I would definetely recommend switching to a 3" downpipe and a free-flow cat. If your stock cat-back is in good condition, just keep it and install a flange that reduces from the free-flow cat (they're available in 3" in/3" out or 3" in/2,5" out) to the stock exhaust.
There's a significant increase in power to be had simply from changing downpipe and cat, even on a stock Aero. I drive mine like that for the moment (as I'm waiting for my tuning parts to be installed and a remapped software) and I estimate power is at or around 250 hp with some minor intake mods as well.
The Aero is highly restricted by the stock exhaust and benefits both in terms of driveability and high-rpm power. Sound is no issue if you stay stock from cat back or if you go 2,5". Going to a full 3" only makes sense when pushing above 260-270 hp. There are small benefits even at lower power levels, but it's not ESSENTIAL.
There are nice 3" downpipes to be bought here in Sweden, and lots of regular exhaust components in the US. There are a bunch of guys around this BB that have done the exact same operation that I'm describing (zeke, FLM, sully etc). Just ask around and they can fill you in on the details.
Good luck!
/ Karl
