Timing marks almost never line up exactly. I'm not sure why that is other than the probability that no tow chains, or belts for other cars that use them, are alike. I had an Alfa Romeo GTV6 a few years/tears ago, still miss it, that used a belt and the cam sprockets never lined up perfect. As for the tensioner, it is where you are thinking, on the back side of the cylinder head towards the passenger side (on left hand drive cars) and is 27mm. Good luck with the work.
