NOTE that Mr. Davis stated that the burned up tranny was filled with Red Line MTL.
PLEASE take note of the following information about my experiance with Red Line....
1) If you use Red Line for your tranny use MT-90. It is heavier and is what is recomended, especially for higher mileage cars. I changed my 93 Aero over to Red Line MT-90 at 130,000 mile and have put 26,000 miles on the car since then with NO problems, and I DRIVE the car like it has a manual transmission!!! P.S. I also have a 93 900T Commemorative that I have been running MTL & MT-90 in for approximately 46,000 miles.
2) When switching make sure you TOTALLY replace the fluid that is currently in the tranny. You can do this by either dropping the tranny and draining it or by buying a fluid extractor (Griot's Garage has a real nice one for about $80) and extracting the fluid out of the fill hole.
3) If you use the extractor, note that the most fluid you will get out will be two (2) quarts. To get the total two quarts you will need to jack up the passenger side of the car to get as much of the fluid to the fill hole side of the tranny as possible. THIS IS REAL IMPORTANT: Put the two quarts of Red Line MT-90 in, drive the car for about 3,000 miles and then repeat this process. You should then be as completly changed as you are going to be without dropping the tranny.
4) At 30,000 miles after the initial change, change the fluid again. If you use the extractor you will only have to do it once, since you are now dealing with only Red Line. Continue this until you sell or total the car !!!
HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE, I am not one to post...If anyone has questions about this or the TCS system of the 93 AERO, feel free to send me your questions. I have been through almost every situation with the TCS and have a pretty good handle on how it works.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A MECHANIC, BUT I AM MECHANICAL AND I AM ANAL. THE ABOVE ARE MY EXPERIANCES WITH MY CARS AND SHOULD BE JUDGED AS SUCH.
