To me any car that the leather seats, door panels, and body/paint are mint in is a "mint" car. I do the mechanical work myself and having the other stuff in mint condition makes it more than worth the effort. I'll let the other guys pay the $400+/month lease payment on a new car while I fix all the typical mechanical things on my $2k "old" car. We'll see who's budget looks better! I will admit to a small amount of delusion concerning my '85 spg sitting in the garage. I paid $350 for it and it's in mint condition. Well..except for tranny, leather seats, headliner, door panels, waterpump, paint job, and a few other minor things. As far as the '92 goes, I have replaced the a/c hose for $70, charge freon:$150, replace blower motor:$100, and I need to replace the suspension bushings. I also plan on replacing the balance shaft chain and sprockets for around $150-$200.
