Don't know if I'd recommend repairing your own turbo unless you're pretty good mechanically, and pretty patient. Tap one of those turbine/compressor blades too hard and you're sunk! I've done it myself but I had a lot of spare parts around in case of a boo-boo.

However, changing the unit itself isn't too hard if you're careful (take some photos before starting so you know where everything connects). $150 at the junkyard and 3-5 hours of your time and you could be all set.
