94 9000CS Alarm system- No start? Help!!! Posted by Jon [Email] (#11) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jon) on Fri, 12 Jul 2002 21:05:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all,
Thankfully, I haven't found the need to read or post in a while, but my 94 9000CS non-turbo automatic has developed a nasty little habit of not starting at times. I define no start as this- Engine hot, no crank when turning ignition to start. Starter will make a click sound sometimes when this happens, but will not crank.
Here's the details:
-Replaced B+ cable with updated part from dealer.
-Replaced starter with reman unit from dealer twice. (one week old)
ALL starters including original suffer the same problem.
-New Interstate Battery. (Same time as above.)
I've checked draw and alternator output with AVR machine. Everything is normal. Voltage drop tested all positive cables, but not all negatives.
Now, the alarm system died about two or three weeks ago. It started going off by itself in a quiet parking lot, with short chirps, then no LED or transport mode functions. I followed the details in Townsend to no avail.
Could the alarm somehow cause this? I have a new ignition switch that I have substituted at no-start times with no change.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jon.
