to the load applied to the drive shafts and the Aero has a lot of torque. It can fail with a few hard starts on dry pavement and constant speed shifts. The hydraulic lower mounts also resist some torque but are secondary to direct application. After studying many Saabs modes of failure, the Hydraulics in automatics fail first and then the upper mount but on 5 speeds the uppers go much sooner than the lowers. I have seen Aeros with failed upper mounts in less than 15,000 miles and lowers go until 75 or 80 thou-same car. BUT the upper mount if not corrected quickly will result in early lower failure due to adverse coupling. The tranny mount hardly ever fails BTW unless soaked with battery acid. I just replaced the hydraulicss on my car (auto) at 135,000 and the upper mount is still good (original). (B202 turbo automatic)
