How to remove windscreen-mounted mobile phone antenna?

My new (to me) '95 CSE has a mobile phone antenna attached to the top left corner of the windscreen. I neither need nor want this and would like to remove it. It looks like the mounting consists of two separate square pads attached to either side of the screen, which I assume must be coupled capacitively, with a cable attached to the inner pad and a short antenna attached to the outer pad. Is it likely I am correct about the capacitive coupling, or am I more likely to find that a hole has been drilled (I hope not)?
Anyway, if I have described the mounting well enough, can anyone suggest a good way to remove it? I don't want to risk damaging the car so I thought I'd ask first.
